Foundation Scripture: Isaiah 55:12-13

Sunday 21st December 2014

In Isaiah 55: 12-13 we are told, ‘For you shall go out with joy, and be led in with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the filed shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come the cypress tree and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.’ As we journey out of this year into the New Year, the word of the Lord to you based on the foundation scripture is that with joy you will go forth! Regardless of what you may have dealt with from January till now I am here to announce that you will end this year with joy. You will not end this year in sorrow, you will not end this year in pain; you will end this year in victory! Joy signifies victory; the word of the Lord to you is that you will come out of this year with joy. I declare that you are coming out with joy! You are coming out with victory. The Hebrew word for joy is ‘simchah’ which means ‘gladness, pleasure, a glad result and a happy issue’. What results have you had from January until now? Whatever this year has been, the word of the Lord to you is that you will finish this year with a glad result. I declare good news in your health, good news in your home, good news at your place of work, good news in your ministry I declare good news! As we go toward the end of this year, you will not mourn, you will nor sorrow, you will not fail, you will not die. Your children are protected, you home is protected; your business is protected. You will end this year with happy issue! The second part of the scripture makes clear that you will be brought in with peace. In other words, with peace you will enter the New Year, you come out of 2014 with joy and you enter into 2015 with peace. The word peace is Hebrew word shalom which means completeness (in number), safety, soundness (in body), welfare, health, prosperity, peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment and friendship (with God and in human relationships).

Isaiah 55:13 promises that where there were once thorns nettles and briers, myrtles and evergreen plants will spring up. These events will bring great honour to the Lord's name; they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love. Thorns denote about pain, difficulties, hopelessness, failure, lack, poverty; any situation that has become a curse. Instead of this, you will experience abundance, fruitfulness, prosperity. You are entering a year of divine exchange. Where you have struggled in this year you will know victory in the coming year. You will abound, be fruitful and you will prosper. Instead of nettles or briers, which are weeds, there will be lush, evergreen plants. Weeds are those things that drain and sap life from you. I declare an end to leakage in your life in Jesus’ Name. In Jeremiah 31:17, the Lord declares, “There is hope for your future," says the Lord. "Your children will come again to their own land.” This is a prophetic scripture; an assurance that there is a future. It is an assurance that your best days are not behind you but ahead of you.

Isaiah 40:3-5 refers to a voice crying in the wilderness. The word of God must always go ahead of you to prepare the way! There must be a prophetic word released into your future giving angels instructions to act on your behalf. The word of the Lord concerning you is going forth; and it will not return void. When the word is spoken, power is released; it shall accomplish God’s purpose and it shall prosper. God has sent me to prepare your way for the coming year. Irrespective of what you may have been through this year God still has better plans for you in the coming year. Your best days are not behind you they are ahead of you; the coming year is your year to excel; God is calling you to reach beyond; God is calling you to breakthrough. The coming year will be your year of exceedingly and abundantly. The coming year will be your year of far and beyond all you may ever ask or think. The year 2015 will be your year of great possibilities. It will be your year of restoration. The way you enter a year is very significant to the outcome of that year. How you start matters. You must not define the new based on the old. Do not go into the New Year depressed, hopeless and defeated. You are just about to step into your best year yet. Whatever the year 2014 has been to you there is hope in your future.

God’s promise is that He will make your enemies your footstool (Ps 110:1). The enemies of life, whether financial difficulties, marital problems, sickness or affliction will become the forces that elevate you. God promises that the challenges that were meant to crush you will become your launching pad. Everything you’ve been through up till now is to get you prepared for where God is taking you to in the New Year. There is nothing in your life that is wasted. All things will work together for your good. Never allow your current circumstances dictate the tone for the coming year.

In 1 Samuel 4:12-5:1 we are told of the death of Eli whom fell backwards and broke his neck having heard of the death of his two sons and the capture of the ark of the covenant by the Philistines. Eli’s pregnant daughter in law having heard the news went into labour and named the child that she gave birth to Ichabod, which means ‘the glory has departed’. She could have named the child ‘the glory will return’ but instead she allowed the pain of the immediate circumstances to dictate her future. I challenge you to name your future ‘Blessed’ ’Prosperous’ ‘Success’ ‘Victory’ and ‘ Good Health’. 2015 is your year of new beginning. Isaiah 43:18-19 challenges us to ‘forget the former things’ and not to dwell on the past. “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Regardless of what the past looked like God is saying to you “don’t dwell on the past” as He is doing a new thing. The coming year is your year of new things and it is springing up!

In John 16:21 Jesus says, “A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. Pain signifies timing. You may be dealing with pain at the moment however your pain is an announcement that your time has come. Be very careful therefore how you interpret whatever you may be going through. Your pain is an indication of your appointed time to give birth to something significant. Imagine a pregnant woman whose time has come and does not recognise it; if there is no recognition of the moment, there could be no preparation for the future. Pain is associated with birthing. If you refuse to interpret your pain and you stop pushing you could jeopardise the life of the baby. You may have been through painful experiences in 2014, your pain is an indication that things are working. Your pain is indication that there is life in you. This is not the time to give up; you are in transition. It is time to recognise that you are entering a new season. Your pain is an announcement that a new season is dawn. Your pain is an announcement that bareness is over. You are stepping into fruitfulness. You are stepping into a season of delivery; a season of joy; a season of celebration. You are crossing over from conception to delivery; from lack to abundance; failure to success. Do not stop believing and trusting God. Do not stop pushing. You are just about to give birth to your dream; and all you need to do is to press on. You are just about to step into another season; a season of manifestation of your “baby” – your dream and in that season there will be ease.

Briefly, let’s look at seven attitudes to take into the New Year: (i) Chase after God – make Him your first priority (Matthew 6:33-34); (ii) Lift your eyes in anticipation of what God will do (Gen 13:14-16); (iii) See the blessings and promotion that is ahead of you (Genesis 13: 15); (iv) Be confident of God’s promises (Ps 27:13-14); (v) Don’t define the new based on the old; (vi) Let go of any weight and sin that could easily beset you (Hebrews 12:1-2); (vii) Recognise that the New Year calls for a new way of thinking.
